This privacy policy explains how the Link Finder Chrome extension
handles your data. The short version: it does not collect any data
whatsoever. Everything the extension does happens entirely inside
your own browser on your own device.

for downloadable files including torrent files, magnet links, videos,
audio, images, documents and archives, and saves them automatically
to your local Downloads folder.

Link Finder does not collect, record, store, transmit or share
any of the following categories of data at any time, now or
in the future.

What Is Stored Locally

Local Only

The only data stored by Link Finder is your own extension settings.
This data is saved locally in your browser using the Chrome
storage.local API.
It never leaves your device and is never transmitted anywhere.

What is stored locally

💾	Folder settings — your chosen root folder name and subfolder names
💾	File type preferences — which file types you have enabled or disabled
💾	Crawl settings — depth, parallel tabs, tab timeout and link filters
💾	Download log — a local record of files downloaded in the current session, stored only in your browser, never transmitted

What is NOT stored

❌	No usernames, passwords or account information
❌	No browsing history or visited URLs beyond the current session log
❌	No data that could identify you as an individual

🔐 4. Permissions Explained

Why Each Permission Is Needed

Transparent

Link Finder requests only the permissions it genuinely needs to
function. Here is exactly why each permission is required and
what it is used for.

🔐	activeTab — reads the content of the webpage you are currently viewing to find download links. Only reads the tab you explicitly activate the extension on.
🔐	scripting — injects the file-scanning function into webpages. The injected script reads anchor tags and media elements to find file URLs. No data is extracted or transmitted.
🔐	contextMenus — adds the right-click menu option Link Finder — Find Files Here so you can start a scan without opening the popup.
🔐	tabs — opens background tabs to scan linked pages during a crawl. These tabs are closed automatically when scanning is complete.
🔐	downloads — saves discovered files to your local Downloads folder. This is the core function of the extension.
🔐	storage — saves your settings locally in your browser so they persist between sessions. No data is sent externally.
🔐	notifications — shows a browser notification if Chrome is asking where to save each file, guiding you to fix the setting.
🔐	alarms — keeps the background service worker alive during long scans so downloads are not interrupted.
🔐	host permissions <all_urls> — required to scan pages on any website. Users may want to find files on any domain. No data from any host is transmitted externally.

Link Finder does not share any data with any third party under
any circumstances. There are no advertising partners, analytics
providers, data brokers or any other external services involved.

You Are In Full Control

Your Data

Because Link Finder stores nothing about you personally and
sends nothing to any server, there is nothing to request,
correct or delete from our end. All data is yours and
stays on your device.

✓	Clear your settings — use the Reset button in the extension settings page at any time
✓	Clear your download log — use the Clear Log button in settings to wipe the local session log
✓	Remove all data — uninstalling the extension from Chrome removes all locally stored settings and logs permanently
✓	No account to delete — there is no account, profile or server-side data associated with you

Children’s Privacy

COPPA

Link Finder does not knowingly collect any information from
children under the age of 13. Because the extension collects
no personal data from anyone, it is compliant with the
Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and
equivalent regulations.
