How It Works
Step by Step
Two simple workflows β one for creating tests,
one for practising drawing skills.
Teacher
Creating a Test
Open the tool & select Teacher mode
Go to the app and choose the Teacher role. No account or login is required.
Set your difficulty and grid size
Choose beginner, intermediate or advanced. Set how many cube arrangements to include in the test and the complexity of each one.
Generate the test
Click Generate. The tool creates a set of unique isometric cube arrangements ready for students to draw the orthographic views.
Export as PDF or PNG
Download a print-ready PDF with answer spaces included, or export individual PNG images to use in your own worksheets.
Print and hand out
Print the PDF and distribute to your class. Every test is unique β regenerate for a new set of arrangements at any time.
Student
Practising Drawing
Open the tool & select Student mode
Go to the app and choose the Student role. Works on any device β no login needed.
Build or generate a cube arrangement
Add cubes manually to build your own arrangement, or click Random to generate one to practise with.
Try to draw the views on paper
Look at the isometric view and try to draw the front, side and top orthographic projections on paper before checking.
Reveal and check your answers
Show the generated front, side and top views and compare them against your hand-drawn projections.
Export and save your work
Export your arrangement as a PNG to include in assignments or share with your teacher for review.
High-resolution image export of any cube arrangement or view. Embed in worksheets, presentations or LMS content.
Print-ready PDF with cube arrangements and answer spaces. Formatted for A4 β ready to hand out in class.
All exports are formatted for standard A4 printing. No scaling or reformatting required.
Generate and export as many tests and arrangements as you need. No limits, no account required.
Tool Features
Everything you need for technical drawing practice
and test creation β in one free tool.
Random Cube Generation
Generate unique, randomised cube arrangements at any
difficulty level. Every click produces a different
arrangement β unlimited practice material.
Four Drawing Views
See every arrangement from four angles β front
orthographic, side orthographic, top orthographic
and isometric 3D view β simultaneously.
Manual Cube Builder
Add and remove individual cubes to build custom
arrangements. See the orthographic views update
in real time as you build.
Three Difficulty Levels
Beginner, intermediate and advanced settings control
the complexity of cube arrangements β from simple
single-layer structures to complex multi-level builds.
Test Sheet Generator
Teachers can generate a complete test sheet with
multiple arrangements, answer spaces and student
name fields β formatted and ready to print.
Works on Any Device
Fully responsive β works on desktop computers,
tablets and mobile phones. No app to install,
no account to create.
Dimension Labels
Optional dimension labels on orthographic views
help students understand scale and proportion
in technical drawing conventions.
Clean Line Output
All generated views use standard technical drawing
line conventions β solid visible lines, dashed hidden
lines and correct projection alignment.
Instant Regeneration
Not happy with an arrangement? Click regenerate
for a completely new set. Teachers can create
multiple unique test versions in seconds.
Curriculum Alignment
Built for Technical Drawing & Engineering Graphics Courses
The WSC Tech Drawing Cube Generator is designed to
support the orthographic projection and isometric
drawing skills taught in secondary and vocational
technical drawing, engineering graphics and design
technology courses.
Cube arrangement exercises are a core component of
technical drawing curricula worldwide β students must
interpret a 3D isometric view and produce accurate
front, side and top orthographic projections. This
tool provides unlimited practice material and
ready-made test content for exactly that skill.
- Orthographic projection β first and third angle
- Isometric drawing and 3D visualisation
- Front, side and top view interpretation
- Hidden line identification and representation
- Scale, proportion and dimension reading
- Technical drawing conventions and standards
Difficulty Levels Explained
Beginner
3β5 cubes arranged in a single layer. No overhangs or hidden cubes. Ideal for students new to orthographic projection.
Intermediate
5β9 cubes across two or three layers. Introduces hidden line identification and more complex front/side view relationships.
Advanced
9β16 cubes with overhangs, recesses and multiple hidden lines. Challenges students to interpret complex 3D arrangements accurately.
Generate a test with a mix of all three difficulty levels β useful for differentiated assessment within a single class.
The Four Views Generated
Every cube arrangement produces four views automatically β
the three orthographic projections and the isometric 3D view.
FRONT VIEW
Front View
The orthographic projection looking directly at the front face of the arrangement. Shows width and height.
SIDE VIEW
Side View
The orthographic projection from the right side. Shows depth and height. Hidden lines shown as dashed.
TOP VIEW
Top View
The orthographic projection looking down from above. Shows width and depth. Also called the plan view.
ISOMETRIC
Isometric View
The 3D isometric projection showing all three faces. This is the view students interpret to draw the three orthographic views.
Frequently Asked Questions
Everything teachers and students need to know
before using the tool.
Is this tool completely free?
Yes. The WSC Tech Drawing Cube Generator is completely
free to use with no limits. No account, no subscription
and no payment required β ever. It is a free educational
tool provided by WSC Developer Products.
Do I need to create an account?
No. Open the tool in your browser and start using it
immediately. There is no registration, no login and
no personal information required from teachers or students.

Yes. All exported PDFs and PNG images are free to use
in your classroom, school worksheets, LMS content and
printed test materials. No attribution required,
though it is always appreciated.
Will two students get the same arrangement?
Arrangements are randomly generated, so it is very
unlikely two students will receive identical tests.
Teachers can also regenerate to get a fresh set
of arrangements for each class or sitting.
What drawing convention does the tool use?
The tool generates orthographic views using standard
technical drawing conventions β solid lines for visible
edges and dashed lines for hidden edges. Both first
angle and third angle projection layouts are supported.
Does it work on tablets and mobile phones?
Yes. The tool is fully responsive and works on desktop
computers, laptops, tablets and mobile phones. Students
can use it on school-issued iPads or their own devices
without installing anything.
Can students use it for self-study at home?
Absolutely. Students can open the tool on any device
at home, generate random arrangements, attempt to draw
the views on paper and then reveal the answers to check
their work. It is ideal for independent exam preparation.
Can I request new features or report a bug?
Yes. Use the contact form on the WSC Developer Products
website to report bugs or suggest features. We actively
maintain and improve the tool based on feedback from
teachers and students.
